Giving a S***: Design for a Better World
March 2023
Did you know that the world is off track to reach Sustainable Development Goal 6 by 2030? What are we going to do about it?
Since 2018, the Wish for WASH Thinks Inc team has been running Design Thinking workshops and courses with 10+ partners such as OpenIDEO, The Paideia School, The Weber School, Atlanta Girls School, Girl Scouts of Atlanta, and the Museum of Design Atlanta as a part of our educational and advocacy workstream.
Through our workshops and curricula, we seek to empower the next generation of STEAM learners, design thinkers, and human-centered problem-solvers to use empathic, interdisciplinary and iterative tools to build sustainable and inclusive innovation in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector to help the world reach the 6th Sustainable Development Goal by 2030. To date our education work includes:
- Unique, Empathy-Centered Design Jams (from 90 min to semester-long engagements for students, educators and the general public)
- WASH-related Life Skills Micro Curriculum Designs with the International Rescue Committee Atlanta
At the upcoming SXSW EDU conference, join us in an iterative and innovative workshop using our novel design thinking process CLAP (Connect Learn Apply Pitch). Participants will work in teams to address one of our world’s biggest problems: water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
After the interactive exercise, hear from speakers working at these intersections and consider, “How might we use design thinking methods to engage students in STEM and Global Health?” because #everybodypoops and #menstruationmatters.
Register to attend our workshop session Giving a S***: Design for a Better World on March 7th from 1:30–3:00pm CT at the Hilton Austin Downtown in Salon K! And join us on social media by using our conference hashtag #wishforwashatSXSW.
